Response to Liberals: Conservatives Unite

way to go conservatives! im in a difficult-to-be-conservative-state also, NY. dont get me wrong, i love ny, but it gets to a point where you cant stand the culture of corruption in government. i yearn for some good old midwestern/southern conservatives to run the state gov. even pataki is corrupt. just giving my two-cents.

By definition, conservatives do not like change. Too bad, I think change is good, I do not like traditionalism.....anyway my rant is done

Completely untrue. Liberals have offered no progressive solutions to society's problems for the last 20 years and make a point to vehemently oppose any policies that would result in positive change (school choice, social security reform, tax cuts). Liberals in America have been incredibly hostile towards change.

Democrats have offered many solutions in the past few years. You do however make the valid point that many of them havn't exactly been the best "progressive" solutions, but they also havn't been in power for a while.

Conservatives do not like change, liberals do, but want too much change at one time. The problem with liberal leadership is that all certain issues tend to be so controversial that they are unable to agree at one time. As a result, factional parties occur repeatdly over and over which results in horrendous leadership and ideas that never manage to fully pass through legislature.

Going back a few posts, I have a question. I don't understand why saying "bush is stupid" is considered a valid argument and acceptable criticism. I know he is not doing a particularly good job, but even if it were absolutely beyond terrible, the guy did graduate from, was it Yale? He is obviously not stupid. Obviously not the best president, but why can't we just say that about him? I mean he is running a country here, while we are a bunch of high schoolers. So he makes pronunciation errors. I am OCD about stuff like that, but if there was a camera in my face for four years of my life chances are I would slip up a few times just like anyone else. Sure, it's funny. But is that or even some of the bad decisions he has made a basis to call him STUPID? Aghh it just bothers me.

I feel the exact same way redbricks. All of those attacks against him, mocking him, etc. What do we possibly expect of him? He is HUMAN. He's on the news 24/7, always under the watch of others, always having to decide decisions. Many of us make more mistakes in one day than he is blessed to. Every possible thing minor thing that he's done, we scrutinize but we always seem to ignore the bigger picture of what he's trying to accomplish.

Like what?

when i read sean hannity's book i was shocked about the school choices. What the hells is wrong with liberals? since when is teaching what "fisting" is in elementary and gay education than school quality?

Yeah he got in cuz his rich powerful dad. He had a C average in high school and an SAT score in the 1200's. You really think he "earned" his way in. He's had everything handed to him and he's still screwed up royally.

Greendayfan-

How come John Kerry never released his SAT scores??

It's so funny how whenever liberals are faced with a challenge, they repeat and follow whatever Michael "Moron" Moore, or Al Franken, Joe Biden, John Kerry, and Ted Kennedy say or do. My advice is to stop being sheep and learn to think for yourselves.

"Liberalism is a mental disorder"- Michael Savage

Wow. That attempt at a joke was hilarious. Hehehehehe. And I'm not repeating anything from any of the people above that u mentioned. Please do not stereotype based on what YOU believe liberalism is. I feel strongly about my beliefs and it is okay to disagree but saying that I have a mental disorder is out of line and in bad taste.

FDR was a C student at both groton and harvard yet he was a great president. ur point?

in all fairness, yes Moore is a fat moron, but you have to admit that the right is full of it's fair share of morons too. Can you HONESTLY tell me that anne coulter has intelligent and realistic viewpoints? Or that O'Reilly isn't just a blubering jackass spouting off his own agenda?

There are utter morons and pundits on both sides, so can't we all just agree to disreguard those people, as I don't think you want the republican party identified with Coulter any more than I want Dems with Moore.

As a point of reference though, I generally hold libertarian viewpoints, socially I'd be very liberal, but economically I'm a fiscal conservative. If the republican party would actually stick to it's party line of small government, individual freedom and states rights I'd be a republican in a heartbeat, but I feel it's been taken over by the religious right.

First off Greendayfan...I was merely quoting someone. I have the freedom to quote whoever I please. Just because you don't agree with my viewpoints, that doesn't give you any right whatsoever to prevent me from expressing myself be it a quote or my opinion. I didn't say that you have a mental disorder...I said LIBERALISM is a mental disorder, so stop playing the victim.

Anne Coulter is in fact intelligent. She graduated from University of Michigan Law School. She isn't a college dropout, unlike Michael Moore.

I know what liberalism is honey. It's destroyed America. Go read Do As I Say Not As I Do if you want proof. If you know you're not going to agree with the Conservative thread, why on God's green earth are you on this thread?????

You never answered my question, so I'll type it again for you:

HOW COME JOHN KERRY NEVER RELEASED HIS SAT SCORES??????

If you still aren't going to answer my question, I'll bold it, underline it, and make it 72 point font.

I never said SHE wasn't smart, I said her viewpoints wern't.

some quotes from her:
"We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity. We weren't punctilious about locating and punishing only Hitler and his top officers. We carpet-bombed German cities; we killed civilians. That's war. And this is war."

"When contemplating college liberals, you really regret once again that John Walker is not getting the death penalty. We need to execute people like John Walker in order to physically intimidate liberals, by making them realize that they can be killed, too. Otherwise, they will turn out to be outright traitors."

COULTER: I take the biblical idea. God gave us the earth.

PETER FENN (Democratic strategist): Oh, OK.

COULTER: We have dominion over the plants, the animals, the trees.

FENN: This is a great idea.

COULTER: God says, "Earth is yours. Take it. Rape it. It's yours."

FENN: Terrific. We're Americans, so we should consume as much of the earth's resources...

COULTER: Yes! Yes.

FENN: ... as fast as we possibly can.

COULTER: As opposed to living like the Indians.

SHE may be a smart person, but I don't care how conservative you are, you honestly think it's a good idea to carpet bomb the middle east and execute political adversaries?

I'm being pretty unbiased here, I'll opnely admit Moore is a moron who takes his stuff way too far and doesn't look at the big picture, but if you honestly believe the right doesn't do the same thing with different people than you're deluded. Don't characterize entire political parties based on a couple of people, or should I just assume Pat Robertson represents all republicans? Give me a libertarian canidate over either party though.

I don't know, but I think it's a little irrational for you to ask us why Mr. Kerry didn't--I don't think we can read minds.

I also think that it's quite ironic that you start a post by claiming liberals just follow Michael Moore like sheep, and then end it by quoting his right-wing equivalent.

I don't listen to "his right wing equivalent" or follow what he says. In fact...in my opinion...he's way too extreme. I saw it on his book at the bookstore and I thought it was amusing, so I quoted him. You have no idea what I read, or who I listen to, or what my opinions are on certain issues. Yeah...I think for myself. I don't agree on every issue just because it has an R next to it.

And....the only reason I brought up the SAT scores...was because Greendayfan keeps saying that the only reason Bush went to Yale was because of his father. And every liberal who is on here keeps saying that Bush is stupid he got insert number here on his SAT's. Well, if John Kerry really outsmarted him on some stupid standardized test (which doesn't measure intelligence btw), how come Kerry never released his scores?? That's what I would like to know.

I'm glad you think that you feel that way about Mr. Savage, but my point was that you can't assume that all liberals feed out of the hands of Michael Moore, just as you don't with Mr. Savage. I do think that people calling the President stupid may be unfounded. However, I would point out that even smart people can create stupid policies. Kerry could have scored very low on his SATs, and I frankly don't think SAT scores mean anything about someone's intelligence. I also have no idea why he didn't release his SAT scores, and to think that anyone of us here knows is absurd. It could be that they were lower than Bush's, or because Kerry didn't want to make Bush feel bad :). I could guess a lot of reasons--my best guess would be that they might have been fairly high and Kerry didn't want to release them because he didn't want to provide right-wingers more reason to claim that he is an "elite".

I swore I wouldn't be caught up in some political e-fight and here I am...trying to defend myself b/c a few people can't accept my opinions. I thought it would be fun just to have a nice conversation w/ people who have the same opinions as me (considering that this is a conservative thread and I'm in fact a conservative), but now I'm in some ugly e-fight. If this is going to continue...then I want no part in it.

And demsoc....thanks for not biting my head off :)

lol your welcome...I'm not in the e-fight am I? I didn't bring knee pads...

No..you're not in the e-fight demsoc. I think you're the peacekeeper here actually. :)
