What fun restaurants would you all recommend for two 16-yo's in Evanston? Would be nice if within walking distance, but not critical.

My twins are turning 16 in a few days; ds is currently at NU in a summer program and we are arranging with his RA to "release" for a few hours to celebrate with his sister.

Only requirement is no seafood restaurants; other than that, pretty open to anything.

Giordano's is always good for chicago pizza. Or Lou Malnatis. Theres a really good place called Mt Everest that has (i think?) indian food and such. Also I suggest going to Red Mango because frozen yogurt is always delicious! If you're interested in chinese food, people seem to be fans of Joyees (across the st from giordanos), though i never understood the appeal of panasian food in large quantities.

We're Chicagoans ourselves, Giordano's and Lou Malnati's are chains, so thank you but we were looking for something other than a chain. The Red Mango is a good suggestion though! Any others?

Lulu's Dim sum and den sum! My absolute favorite restuarant anywhere. And its a good deal too.

Koi is nice if you're willing to spend a little extra. Or Pete Millers.

Thanks! They remembered a restaurant they went to last night and enjoyed; it is a Thai place and has all kinds of kitschy collections on the walls, like Pez dispensers and lunchboxes and things of that nature -- I think it was pretty near the campus (like maybe on Davis St) -- ring any bells?

That is Cozy Noodles & Rice. Hard to find a better Thai bargain, I love that place, but some are not as thrilled with the quality. Thai Sookdee is a little more upscale and has good food too.

Mt. Everest is great if you like Indian food. Koi is the best sushi in Evanston. Pete Millers is a very good steakhouse too, but like Lily said, expensive. Tapas Barcelona is always fun. Wow, I'm hungry now... I need to get back to Evanston ASAP.

Flat Top is great.

I would recommend Dave's italian Kitchen. It's not too expensive and the food is very good.

Also, if you are looking for Sushi, check out Shashimi Shashimi. The food there is also cheap but good.

Sashimi Sashimi** (in case you are trying to Google it or something.)

For something different, try Kabul House - Afghani cuisine (a drive to W. Dempster in Skokie).

Or for something w/ a wide range - sandwiches to Korean/Japanese food - try Cafe JK Sweet on Clarke.

Thanks everyone. I have to smile at JK Sweets, because that was my second date with now-dh :-). We wound up at Cozy Noodles which the kids like, and then back at Allison ... to be covered in a different thread.

I have to disagree with Dave's Italian Kitchen. WORST Italian food I've ever had.
