Restaurants for visit

We are going to visit Clemson Aptil 1st and 2nd. I think it’s going to be a busy because there are Spring Blitz tours. Does anyone have any restaurant suggestions near the school? Thanks!

We went to Spring Blitz last year and the best recommendation I can give you is to eat in one of the large main student dining halls. There was a discount coupon in our daughter’s info package so we decided to stop by. It was one price all you can eat & many stations of food with lots of options. More important than the food was the experience of seeing one more aspect of seeing Clemson student life.
It was peak rush hour so we saw a nice cross section of students, several other groups of young women from other colleges on campus for a big crew meet, and there were still plenty of places to sit and enjoy our meal.
We had been inclined, as visitors, to play it safe and eat at a regular restaurant. We were so happy we chose the cafeteria and had that experience.
Be advised there is a Chilis on campus (next to one of the main cafeterias!) and you will find lots of other cute little places to eat just across the street from Bowman Field. You will easily find something you like.
I hope you enjoy your campus visit as much as we did. DD loved it from her first moment and we are submitting her deposit today to make it official that she will be a Class of 2019 Tiger and also accept her spot in the Honors College!

Check out the dining halls, but suggestions in case you don’t: Blue Heron. Mellow Mushroom. Esso Club. TIger Town Tavern. TD’s. Pixie & Bill’s. Calhoun Corner. And, a bit away from campus…The Smokin’ Pig
All but last three are walking distance from campus…

I think we have tried just about everything in Clemson over the last two years. As mentioned above, right in downtown there are a number of pub style restaurants. Decent food but just have to remember they cater to the students. Out on route 123, just a bit out of downtown area, there is another cluster of restaurants like El Jimador, Ruby Tuesday, etc. Also Pixie and Bills is about as close to upscale as you will find. Decent steaks and seafood and not too pricey. Fed my family of 4 last weekend for about $110.

Just 15 minutes away is the crown jewel of Clemson…the Smoking Pig. It’s a must do…and we do, every time we visit.

Eat in Greenville!
