Anybody recommend a restaurant in Boston within walking distance of Copley Square? Staying at the Marriott and trying not to walk in the rain tomorrow night. Also any thoughts about eating lunch the next day near NEC? Audition is at 1:40 so we will most likely eat something light around 11:30. THANKS.

Hi POTO Mom: I suggest you use the restaurant locator feature available on the Boston Globe’s website: [Boston Restaurants - restaurant reviews and dining recommendations - Boston.com](http://www.boston.com/ae/restaurants/)

That way, you can specify neighborhood (downtown), type of cuisine, and price range. The Globe also has a “cheap eats” section on this webpage that usually has great suggestions.

POTO mom ,

Couple of ideas for you -

Symphonie Sushi on Gainsborough -

Exit Jordan Hall. Make a left. Walk to the corner (Huntington & Gainsborough). You will see a Pizzeria Uno. Cross the street (Huntington) and continue on Gainsborough half a block. They serve food other than sushi too. It is excellent for a light lunch.

Alternatively, on Huntington, the street that Uno’s is on, there are a couple of Asian noodle restaurants which are also good.

You can get a salad at Uno’s if all else fails, they apparently have a 30 min guaranteed lunch.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Sushi is perfect. We love that for lunch! I’ll check out the link. Legal Seafood has been recommended. I had forgotten we ate there on our junior year trip.

There’s a lot of Italian food in little restaurants, but I can’t give you exact locations. They tend to be a little expensive though. And if all else fails… There will be a Dunkin Donuts. Somewhere. Wherever you are.

There are also Starbucks on almost every corner in Boston!!

There is a Cheesecake Factory in the Prudential Center (right by Copley). Their dinners are great, as well as the cheesecake, D and I often split a dinner and a slice because the portions are so huge.
Also for lunch, there is a small restaurant on Gainsboro street two doors down from Symphony Market (which is on the corner of Huntington and Gainsboro). I honestly don’t know the name of it, but it is a small coffee/bagel/sandwich shop. They have chess/checkers and other games for playing while you eat, or just have coffee and chill. My D and all her friends lunch there on Saturdays and say it is great.
When are u arriving? My D and I will be there tomorrow from 4-7 for a rehearsal (she is in the prep program there). If you want a two bit tour (if it isn’t pouring) let us know.

Speaking of every corner, can someone explain Boston’s obsession with Dunkin Donuts? It seemed like there was literally one on every corner, not an exaggeration.

There is. Because it’s not America that runs on Dunkin… It’s New England.

I don’t know. Maybe we just like doughnuts.

I sure do. :-)

Don’t forget about Legal Seafoods! We ate their last summer on our way to Tanglewood and it was a great time. It is in the Prudential Center mall.

This is because Dunkin Donuts was founded in Quincy, MA and it’s headquarters are in Canton, MA. Just a little trivia.

I was also going to recommend the little coffee / sandwich shop on Gainsborough St. There are several restaurants in the Prudential Mall including Legal Seafoods and Cheesecake, a good place to walk around inside to get out of the elements. There is a Barnes and Noble in there too. Lots of interesting restaurants on Newbury St but that is a farther walk, I like Stephanie’s on Newbury. There is also a Charlie’s Saloon, good pub food. If the weather is nice it is a great walk up and down Newbury st to window shop. My favorite ice cream in the whole world is Emack and Bolio’s, which has the best hot fudge, near Hereford St. Best to search on the web, too many to choose.

And for dessert… Finale, in Park Plaza, haha. It’s SUPER expensive, but it is the most delicious, mouth-water, chocolate explosion dessert that you could ever imagine. Perfect for ending a stressful day of auditions!

If you want to splurge a little, Brasserie JO downstairs in The Colonnade is great for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert.

Well we need to stay a few more days to eat at all these places! My D wanted to stay the weekend but this is our 4th audition trip and we still have one more to go. Everything’s a plane ride for us - so we’re just glad it’s not snowing (so far).
