Restaurants on Franklin St?

I'm going out to dinner with my friends for my birthday this week, but I have no idea where to go. I'm a freshman and not super familiar with all the restaurants. I'm looking for something that's not really nice or expensive but at the same time like not a bar. I went to Four Corners a few weeks ago and it was decent but I guess i'm looking for something a little nicer.

top of the hill

Top of the Hill is good but a bit over rated in my opinion… granted it’s somewhat iconic but in my opinion is a bar first, food second place with great “atmosphere.” You’ll have to take them there at least once during your four years but there are a lot of better places near the campus with much better food.

I prefer 411 West for a good meal within walking distance.

Here’s a list to save or bookmark…full of very good choices for future reference. I’ve eaten at many of them and can share experience via PM if you prefer.

Spanky’s! Great hamburgers, not expensive, fun atmosphere.

^ I like Spanky’s a lot for lunch, great burgers, soups and sandwiches and lots of Carolina “atmosphere.”

There are much nicer places for dinner. You can go fancy or casual, expensive, moderate or inexpensive and get a great variety of good food within a short distance of campus and even more if Carrboro is an option.

Carolina Coffeeshop

Think I’m gonna go to carolina coffee shop, thanks for the help everybody! Now does anyone know of a hookah bar on or near franklin? I’m looking online and it looks like all the ones that were there are closed.
