Restrictive Early Action at Stanford

So the fact that I am an URM AND a legacy actually hurts more than helps?

No, I'm saying that legacy may or may not help you, and that it will likely not help to the degree that it did with the student last year. I don't believe a factor that you have no control over will hurt you.

Our local h.s. had 10 admits to Stanford over the last 3 years. Nine of them were legacies, all of them were white. They also had high GPAs.

I personally believe that you have a brilliant chance! Of course, being a URM helps but I believe that your legacy status is more powerful. I wont be surprised if you got in. And besides, your dedication to football is very sweet. That's an extra bonus making you a triple threat! Lol!

You strike me as a sincere person. So apply! You never know what will happen unless you try.

I think you guys are missing the point. Yes, the guy who got in with a 1700 was an URM, so that probably helped, but the rest of his profile was very impressive and easily made up for his 1700. His case was the ultimate example of holistic admissions, not affirmative action.
