my parents accidentally submitted my supplement because they thought I was done, and then they failed to proof read it!
i found four typos! is it possible to resubmit if i call and explain the situation?
i worked really hard on them
PLEASE HELP, FREAKING OUT. applying REA

I don’t think so… But you can always call and see what they can do for ya.

Why would your parents submit YOUR stuff? Did you ask them to?

they had to put their credit card in and they thought they had to submit everything "/

I can’t believe your parents would have hit the submit button. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?

If you were done, wouldn’t YOU have submitted it? I hope they don’t try that stunt with the other schools apps.

yeah we had a very stern talk.
would the typos be detrimental to my application? they are pretty blatant like mt instead of me. word wouldn’t let me copy and paste so i had to retype them =_=
do you think my regional admissions officer can do anything?

Yes, I would contact the regional admissions counselor. Not sure what could be done, but the main issue is that other apps will have these same mistakes - the areas get greyed out after the first Comm App is submitted!

Talk to them and then also find out how to fix from Common Application support team.

Have your parents ever done something like this before with school assignments or whatever? I am a parent and work with high school kids, and can’t imagine doing this.

Yeah, my sister applied to UC’s though so this situation was all avoided. Is it possible to snail mail/fax/email my supplements in typed on word if I talk to the regional admissions counselor? Thanks for all your help!

Contact admissions and find out.

Was it just the supplement that had typos, or the whole application section? If it was just a supplement for Stanford you may be able to contact their admissions office and find out what they recommend.

If it was the application section in general with the typos, you will likely have to call Common Application to see what you can do.

Just the supplement had typos, my common application has been edited a million times.
I think I will contact the admission office first thing on Monday, hopefully they are sympathetic towards my situation since Stanford is my dream school.

Isn’t the submit button right next to print preview?

It would be certainly very easy to hit submit if that was the case…and you didn’t mean to.

I can’t remember - would have to log in and take a look.

Call them Monday. You will feel better after getting their recommendation.

Thanks for everything! The anxiety is eating away at me. Crossing my fingers this can be fixed!

Hang in there. Nothing you can do tonight.

There was a really good blog link I saw today about “20 scary application mistakes” from a counselor on a blog. I wish I could link it. Lots of easy mistakes to make this time of year. Most people don’t realize they have made a mistake, so you are ahead of the game!

You need to make a duplicate copy, create another version, and fix the mistakes on your Common App for any other schools. Common App can’t fix anything for you. And call Admissions first thing Monday and ask them what to do about the one that is already submitted to them.
