I am a grade 11 student in India studying in an international school following the IB curriculum. I am a citizen of USA.
Currently, my subjects in IB are:

English -SL French -SL Math -SL Economics -HL ComputerScience -HL Physics -HL
In school, i am an average student. I got 5/7 in all my subjects except for English -4/7 and Economics -6/7 in the previous exam.

I havent decided whether i want to pursue Computer Science or Economics at a university level. I would defintely want to study in USA. I have taken the SAT once and scored 1720 (Math - 600, Reading -550 , Writing -570).

I plan on taking it two more times and hope on getting around 1900. Also i may take the ACT. I really badly want to attend universities such as Purdue or UrbanaChampagine.

I play drums in school and im in the football team. Are my grades enough to get in to a good college? if so which colleges?

Depends on the school. Some will require you to apply to one college within the univ. Some will let you apply to the univ no matter the major.

However, it’s quite a challenge to get an eng’g degree and a business degree at the same time. The eng’g degree has more req’d credits than other degrees, so little room to add extra classes for a degree where there aren’t overlapping courses.

If I was considering you for either of these large midwestern state unis, I’d want to see you take more HL courses and do well in math in particular–one or more 6’s would be good. I’d also want to see the math SAT come upto >690. There usually is advanced math in economics. I’m not thinking you’re a good candidate at CS at either of these schools, but on the other hand they just might take a chance on you while taking your full pay.

sanat123, you can look up the SAT ranges for all the schools you’re interested in, to get an idea of how yours might fit in. Here’s Purdue: <a href=“BigFuture College Search”>BigFuture College Search;

Check out SUNY Binghamton. My daughter had similar scores as you and was able to graduate a year and half early because of her IB credits (plus a couple of summer courses). I think you would need to get your SAT score up, though.

Binghamton University recognizes schools offering IB programs and the students who earn IB diplomas as offering or having accomplished the most challenging comprehensive curriculum available. IB participation is recommended, taken into account and considered during the application process.

Binghamton University students may earn credit by exam for coursework completed in high school under the International Baccalaureate Program. Credit is awarded only for Higher Level exams, with students scoring a 4 or 5 receiving 4 credits for a subject and students scoring a 6 or 7 receiving 8 credits for a subject.

SUNY General Education credit can be awarded for successfully completing Higher Level exams in five of the ten areas of competency. In addition the General Education requirement for foreign language may be satisfied by a score of 4-7 on the Higher Level or Standard Level exams.

Binghamton University needs to receive an official International Baccalaureate transcript in order to evaluate credit. International Baccalaureate courses and grades listed on a high school transcript are not acceptable for evaluation.

Students in the Diploma Program may receive up to 32 credits. To receive the full 32 credits, the following conditions must be met:

· The IB Diploma must be completed with a score of 30 or more points; and

· The student must complete at least three Higher Level exams with a score of 5 or higher.
