Has anyone heard anything back about the November 7th auditions?

No not yet!

Nothing here either

Did anyone go see Wild Party at auditions? What did you think?

My daughter and husband went…D loved the show, husband not so much, but I think it was more that he just didn’t like the show Wild Party rather than the performance. What did you think?

Loved loved loved it. It was like we were at the Party. If there is a prude bone in your body, it is not the show for you. The BW program pulled this show off exceedingly well. We were extraordinarily impressed. They were all terrific.

We were very impressed, daughter especially by how the dancing was handled in the show – for a school building its dance program (according to people we talked to there), there were many trained dancers…and a few who “moved well”…the talent was impressive. We saw the “blondes”. Anybody see the “brunettes”? The cast we saw was very strong!

We saw the brunettes. They were fantastic and all danced extremely well. I know people who saw both casts and said both were terrific. We left wanting to watch it again…

son waitlisted yesterday. chances of them going to the waitlist? does anyone know the numbers from last year

daughter waitlisted today.

ajm123 and ladymacbeth --Did you receive something in the mail? Where are you located -East Coast, midwest, west coast? If you check your status online what does it say? Getting really nervous now, any accepted yet?

Daughter rejected today and is very bummed out. Guess I won’t be visiting this page anymore. Best of luck to all BW hopefuls, she was really excited about going there. Trying to get her out of the negative think and preparing for next auditions. She is convinced that she is no good and won’t get accepted anywhere now. Boy this is really hard.

Dear CalMTMom-please hang in there. Every school has its own goals and desires when it comes to choosing a class. Encourage your daughter to hang in there and to be as prepared and confident as possible for the next auditions. It is very rare for a student to fly through auditions without the heartbreak of being rejected by what they thought was the perfect school. It is heartbreaking for us parents but it does build character in your child. Good Luck!

My D also rejected, also very bummed. BW was her number one pick. Does your daughter talk about “doing things differently” at the next audition? Trying to guess what might have been the reason for the rejection? I’d love to have feedback from the audition. But then again, what was “wrong” for one school might be “right” for another. I’m encouraging her to be herself, work hard, and view the rejection as a learning/life experience. I agree - this is really hard.

Moms, I am catching up on your thread and just want to offer my sympathy and words of wisdom, as well. We hurt when our kids hurt, and unfortunately, auditions have the potential to cause them to hurt. My son was in the audition pool last year, not for BW, but for many other schools. He did not make it into his two top choices, with one of them causing MAJOR disappointment, such as your girls are feeling. Here’s what you have to keep in mind: to a large extent, schools cast classes as they cast shows. They may already have enough pretty, blonde, legit soprano leading ladies (substitute whatever type you like here…in our case, it was cute, brunette, baritenor leading men). That does NOT mean your child isn’t talented or doesn’t have what another program is looking for; it just means the fit wasn’t there, this year, at this particular school.

The downside of having a first choice favorite school is the crash that can occur if you don’t get in. Trust me, I know. All you can do is boost them up and prepare for the next auditions. As you know, this is what life in theatre will be like going forward, in and outside of school.

You will read over and over on these boards that such things happen for a reason. I can tell you my son wound up getting into several BFA MT programs and eventually accepted admission into a school he didn’t even strongly consider at first – ironically, a non-audition program – and HE COULDN’T BE MORE THRILLED.

I wish your children the best of luck going forward. Trust me, there is a program out there just perfect for them.

Perishack and Jacksdad Thanks so much for the words of encouragement. D has bounced back as she is prone to do and we are all feeling more positive that the right place will reveal itself in time and to just keep swimming (As Dory would say)
It is so funny to see you all posting here this year as I followed so many of your progress last year as i discovered this site that has helped us prepare for this experience. What a great supportive group of people come hear to share information, encouragement, joys, disappointments, wisdom–
D and I both know that rejection is part of the career choice. What is hard is that the stakes never seemed as high before, but building character and remaining humble are very important lessons for life not just for a career on the stage. Whatever happens I am glad I found this network of people. As odd as it seems, it really helps. Thanks again.

Just received an acceptance letter from BW conservatory for MT not too long ago and I couldn’t be happier! I still have a few auditions to follow through with but I can’t wait to keep learning about BW because it is definitely one of my top choices!

Congrats!! You should add your name to the acceptances thread!!!
