Two questions:

1) Did you guys submit a resume with your app? I noticed by the EC section it said to complete that section even if you submit a resume. This kind of makes it sound like it's a common thing... Should I send mine?

and

2) As long as the app is in by the January 15 deadline, are you aok? Does submitting it close to deadline (but not after the deadline) give you a disadvantage? I haven't gotten mine out yet (hectic end of the semester + blizzard screwed up the mail), but I plan to overnight mail it on Tuesday. I'm in before the deadline but it's kind of cutting it close... will I be penalized for that?

Thanks!

I don't know about the resume, but I do know that you won't be penalized for sending it in now. I'm not even done with my application, so you're FINE. It will take a little longer for them to verify they have alll the parts of your application, but other than that nothing will happen.

I would send the resume. It couldn't hurt, right? I think it shows that you're serious about the school.

That's kind of what I was thinking, but I also don't want to send in unnecessary stuff ("the thicker the file, the thicker the applicant"). I'm applying to Gallatin and I was wondering if the resume was more geared toward film/art kind of people.

My resume doesn't really have a lot of new stuff, but it does go a little more indepth as to what I've actually done in my ECs.

So I'm still torn as to whether or not to send it.

I just did that EC section and it didn't have room for anything. I would sent it. I'm applying to Gallatin as well, and the admissions process seems to be less number driven. Because of this, I would think it would be extra important to present yourself in the best possible light. Best of luck. The individualized major seems so unique. I just don't think there is a better opportunity. I wish I didn't have to wait until April!

Receiving Supplementary Materials

Unless you are applying to one of the programs that specifically requires an audition or portfolio as part of the admissions process, portfolios, videotapes, CDs, or other samples of your artistic ability are not required for admission, and will not be considered by the committee.

yeah I read that... but a resume isn't a portfolio or reflect my artistic ability and they do directly refer to it in the EC section, so I'm not really sure if that falls under under the supp. materials and such. and it also is somewhat common for people to send in resumes I think...

I don't know. I wish their message board wasn't down.

bump for the resume question... I'm still iffy about that. Do a lot of people send one?

I think you should definitely send one if you have it. I think the Resume provides a better picture of your extracurriculars than just listing 5 of them on the actual application. I provided a resume with my ED application.
