Mine for grad school is basically a modified version of my research resume, showing I have done research for x years in a relevant area of study and how my jobs have influenced my research and grad school interests, etc. Basically, same set up but customized to grad school just like any other job resume would be customized toward that job but with a greater emphasis on research (basic and applied)

Grad school resume will be a cv. This might include things left off of a resume like grants, awards, teaching experience, publications, conferences etc Also, the cv might not be tailored to each grad program the way that a resume is tailored to each employer.

You would want to leave off things such as work experience unrelated to academics, right? Such as retail, etc.

It really depends on the program. If you're applying to Master's programs, they will want to see work experience too. PhD and teaching-related programs want to see a curriculum vitae (CV).

I am trying to apply for a Masters in Accounting.

So, keep work experience?

YES, keep the work experience. They want to see what you have done that is accounting-related.
