Please rate my chances

wow...are we allowed to include awards from prior to ninth grade? i think's it is limited to your high school career...

Too wordy dude. Mad boring to read. It's like a laundry list. Edit it, seriously.

are you international? if so... well depends on who else is applying from your area... I would say go for it but don't expect too much

oh ya... ditch the pre-high school stuff

Just wondering, is it uncommon to take New South Wales tests in your school? For my previous high school it was almost mandatory, and unless you get a perfect score, the test is considered very unimpressive. Most people get distinctions and credits so it really isn't a feat. Maybe you should just include the more prestigious awards? Such a laundry list makes it difficult to separate the more significant awards from the mundane...

cant help the laundry list...I share the same sentiments with u guyz but this is what our school "counsellor" (ahem!!! seld created position) does.
Oh yeah I also hv work experience...... will the wordiness be a problemo?
The Harvard recruiter who came 2 our school (!!) said that if there were significant awards before high school,we could include those as well

"significant awards before high school" means, first very important awards, and second awards that you could've won in high school (i.e. concerto competition where you beat out high school students). Awards that you won when you were 5 will DEFINITELY be looked down upon (unless you were the first five-year old to write a 500-page novel or something) Sit-and-draw??? C'mon man, use your head. and 2. Attended ‘Computer Awareness’ course conducted by St. James’ School in September, 1997, & declared ‘Successful.’ ***???? how many people got declared successful??? some of those are seriously meaningless awards. Trim it down. i'm not bashing you here, just trying to help your resume.

Yeah no prob taken in good spirit

bump...but I'm sure my counsellor wont agree and he's the one who makes the resume as my school attaches the resume with the schol report . He thinks a longer reco will increase my chances. SO should I agrue with him coz if he gets ****ed off he might do something which I wouldn't like....

"Research: 1) Math project on the significance of
pi and a statistical project.
2) Project on wetlands"
arent these the one's compulsory for High School Students?

I went to a Dartmouth session and a woman asked about how long our EC lists should be. Her response was that she has to read THOUSANDS of apps and if you have a ridiculously long list...they will just quickly scan it. This means that some of the awards that you have won that actually mean something could be looked over, and instead they could see an award that you won in 3rd grade for having the neatest desk. Don't come off as an idiot. The admissions officer actually said that she prefers students to do it like this:

Community Service: 50 hours a year
(BigBrothers, Hospital)

School Service: 100 hours a year
(Model UN VP, etc.)

No one has time to read everything you listed, especially when it is mostly crap.

Select a more advanced piece for your CD. Fur Elise is for beginners.

Yeah but Fur Elise is one of my favorites. I could play Tarantella of the theme from "The Godfather" (sigh!!!!!) too but I somehow like Fur Elise. Anywayz, I;m not applying for a music scholarship so I'm trying to be endearing (read cute and cuddly) to the assessors

If the adcoms deal with music supplements by sending them in for review by the respected departments... I'll I'm going to say is that fur elise is definitely not a good choice. I'm not advocating not submitting a piece--just don't submit fur elise. It might also be a good idea not to list every single level that you passed.

just trying to help :)

I don't think they'll care what you got in 5th grade unless you won the National Spelling Bee.

Hey Hey I'm surprised at the poor response the poor fella's got. I mean in India, to do this and actually maintain a good class rank is really really really hard. Stop bickering and give credit where its do. Word of advice to soumyajeet, dont exxagerate academic honors...5th grade stuff and comp awareness should be deleted rest all OK. I'm a Harvard student btw

prestigious award? i think i am a member of the ngs because i suscribe to national geograpic lol. i would make that more clear if it is a prestigious award.

YOu have alot of really goot EC's, just cut out the less improtant one's and the one's from before 9th grade and you'll be fine.

YOu have about as good a chance as any - depends on how well you present it.

Cheers to sid jacob.I wonder who he is.........hmmm....
Newaz sweetestsith bit off da topic but what dya say to a movie of the war between the Jedi and the Sith a millenia before the Phantom Menace / a movie on Darth Plagius ?

lol I would be quite amused - Yoda as a young man, er, I mean, creature, no one really knows his species...Yes - would be lovely!
