Hey all, so I was wondering what the protocol is for when to upload a resume to the Common App and what should be included in it. I have a few activities that didn’t make the 10 limit cut on the common app that I would like to share, so would it be best to just include those activities or send in my entire resume (which will contain some information that I have already entered into the Common App)? Also, the length of my resume now is about 2 pages (including activities on the common app), is that fine or should it be cut down a bit? Thanks!
You can send in a resumé as long as a good portion of it is not redundant to the Common Application and as long as each individual college accepts resumés as a supplement.
A heads up that you may want to send in a curriculum vitae instead of a resumé in some cases.
Put those additional items in the Additional Info section. Don’t burden them with the duplication of a resume.
I would say the level of detail in your resume is MUCH beyond what any college is going to care to read. A college graduate’s resume is usually one page long. I fear you over estimate the amount that colleges care about your ECs. There’s a reason why there are only ten lines for ECs/Activities and no simple way to attach a resume…
I agree that what you’re describing sounds way too detailed. My D used the Additional Info section to give more detail about her top 3 EC’s. I wonder about having more than 10 activities. Having depth in a few EC’s is more important than having so many EC’s they don’t fit in the space provided.
