resume question

We bought our 8x10 paper from actorpaper.com.

Thanks for the sites for the paper, right now I’m just mailing in the one for Wright State. So I have printed the pic 8 x 10 & now I should trim the resume to be 8 x 10 as well? Do I staple it or does it matter if I’m mailing it in?

I have always just trimmed the paper to match the headshot. Never had a casting director tell me that it wasn’t neat enough  and D has booked more than one job with trimmed paper. I would staple. One staple in each of the four corners.

For the actor paper, do you print the headshot on that as well or just the resume?
Thanks again, I don’t know how I would get thru this w/out all of you!!

Headshot should be on photo paper and resume on regular paper. I have taken a zip drive to kinkos or any drugstore and you can print photos there if you don’t have a photo quality printer. You can also order from shutterfly or kodak etc and they ship really fast.

Certainly you can trim your own if you like. For $10 for 100 sheets however, we found it easiest to just have the 8 x10 paper on hand. One less step and one less thing to worry about. We stapled the r

How do you figure out how many you need? I know at least one per audition, but I am assuming some schools have more than one person at the audition?

I would err on the side of too many rather than be short. We take 5 to each audition just in case. Our first audition this season my D had already uploaded her headshot and resume online so they had that in front of them when she auditioned. Her resume had changed since it was uploaded so we brought those just in case they wanted them and they did.

I agree with Bisouu, we are taking 5 to all of them. He started to pass them out to the WSU panel and they kindly said “just give us one, they are expensive, we’ll all take our own notes and share”.

Just a very quick reminder to double-check the school’s instructions before you do any stapling or glueing! For example, Otterbein very clearly asks you NOT to staple the resume to the headshot.

I think my posts on CC are all the same at this point: check the school’s instructions, everyplace is different, blahdy blah, sorry guys! I know you are smart! I’m a teacher, can’t help repeating advice. ;)

Good point, Times 3, and I think repeating things is important because we can easily miss a post here or there. Of course, the most important thing is to actually bring the headshot/resume! I’ve told how my oldest son forgot to bring it at all to one audition. :-)

Times3. I can’t seem to find the guidelines on their site for how Otterbein wants the resume attached. You said no staples? I want to make sure it’s correct.

Here are the full guidelines: http://www.otterbein.edu/Files/pdf/theatre/On%20Campus%20BFA%20Guidelines%202013-14.pdf</a>
And the request for no staples is on the first page.
Their guidelines are so helpful about every aspect of auditioning–definitely worth reading through the whole thing! :)

Thanks Times3. Not sure why I couldn’t find it!

My D has a small picture at the top of her resume that is different from the headshot. She heard horror stories of headshots getting separated from the resume. Also, have you name somewhere on your head shot just in case. Always one page unless specifically requested for longer.
