Hi,

I want to submit a resume for UPenn, but I'm a little worried because it has information that I already added on the Additional Information section of the Common App, and it's over a page. Should I submit it or not? Thanks!

Hi,

I want to submit a resume for UPenn, but I'm a little worried because it has information that I already added on the Additional Information section of the Common App, and it's over a page. Should I submit it or not? Thanks!

You should not.

a) Penn doesn’t require/want them
b) you’re duplicating info
c) you’re expanding on areas that Penn actually won’t care about – those details you feel are that important? They aren’t really.
d) over one page? Not even your resume upon College Graduation should be over one page.

I got in ED and my resume was 4 pages and I still submitted it.
I duplicated the ECs that were on my common app
but I wanted to elaborate on some of the honors that I didn’t include

If you think it’s important, you should add it
but if not, maybe not.

I got in ED without any resume. I fit all my activities/awards into CommonApp and it worked for me. Good luck.

Thank you everyone! I guess it doesn’t really matter. It’s just that I received some awards after I filled out all the CommonApp stuff, and I did include them in my additional info section, but I thought it would be nice to put all the things in the Activities section and the Add. Info section together.

DS got in ED without a resume as well…

I like my resume, I think it’s laid out and looks better than the commonapp. It’s two pages, Im submitting it.

It all mechanics though, whether you submit or not is not going to make or break your app. It’s what’s on the resume.

As long as your resume is properly organized–meaning that you have everything laid out by topic/categories and not anything has more than a few sentences to describe it–you should be fine. I plan on submitting my resume to Penn RD as well. My resume is 3 pages long but everything is organized and easy to understand and comprehend and has explanations where necessary.

It sounds more like an addendum that just a resume. If you want to add something, I do not see the harm. The worst they can do is ignore it.

Okay, thank you everyone! :)
