Resume Writing... Help! :(

Alright, well, I'm going to go to a career counselor on tuesday to go over this and then will hopefully have it ready by wednesday and thursday. I have a career fair and other stuff those two days that are crucial for me in terms of landing an internship this summer.

Problem is, I have no relevent experience... and I'm a junior. Am I the only one in this boat? I'm an accounting (possibly double in finance and english minor) major, but other then class, haven't done anything with business. So what do I write?

I also haven't had a summer job since I've been out of high school... and according to this website through my college, it said as a junior not to put high school grades, achievements, etc... and hell, not about to put my useless job on there anyway.

So what do I put? This is what my life has been like since HS:

Summer before freshmen year:

Was in some dumb musical (no homo) and dunno *** I was thinking. Though I play guitar and write music and this girl told me it'd be fun... so, I did it. It was a good time though, but had no time for a job cuz it was 3+ hours in the middle of the day for 1-2 months.

Freshmen year:

Did well. I got a 3.89 but didn't join clubs and activities... just kinda had fun. I ended up transfering out to:

Community College (sophmore year):

Private school was too expensive and went to CC. That summer (before) I spent 8 weeks (roughly 4 hours a day getting into the city, going to class, getting outta the city) in a screenwriting class. I also spent lots and lots of time writing in my free time and had no job because of it. I also took a summer course before this, so that was 12 weeks total, basically whole summer...

My sophmore year I did well though. And the second semester my english professor sent in my writing for something and was able to get some award and become an assistant teacher for her and became an english tutor at the college too.

Btw, I had a 4.0 at the CC.

This past summer:

Did nothing. Regret that, but it's too late now. I really couldn't get any internships through my community college though (they didn't help at all like most universities do)--they sucked. And I also don't know anyone who could get me one... so whatever.

Now:

I transfered to another school and need to get my **** together in order to land some type of internship....

Problem is, I feel like I have nothing to offer.

Scatch that. I have many things to offer. I'm a pretty smart kid and I'm determined, and work hard. I also am good with people and communicate well... and all that good stuff... lol.

However, how the hell can they know any of that if I have no job experience? Am I suppose to BS that stuff? I have no experience, well other than the tutoring thing, that shows any certain qualities. I'm in a position right now where the only thing my resume could say about myself is some stuff I BSed.

I guess the GPA is good and I am active in some things, just nothing that pertains to accounting, finance, or business in general, lol.

Although I'm in some business groups now that'll hopefully help a bit.

Sorry for the length of this, but I need help here. I wanna at least get something decent written before I bring it to a counselor.

Thanks in advance to anyone who helps.

jumps off a roof

Search the web for sample resumes, and see how you can best display things like your education/major/GPA, courses most related to the internships you want, activities, foreign languages or awards, etc.

I was in the same boat when I applied for my first internship. My solution: I applied to like 40 places and had no expectations of being paid. If I were you, I would look for smaller companies just start sending out mass emails. Eventually, you will find someone who wants free labor. As for your resume, just devote a lot of space to your academic qualifications and functional skills. It won't be great, but it'll get the job done.
