Whats the best way to write your resume if you've never had a job and looking for an office job? What should you include? Anyone got an example?

Id lie about jobs.

Include if you've done any volunteer work and also include if you have taken any courses that may somewhat apply to the particular job.

What if you've only had high school courses? What are some "computer" skills you could put down that'll sound good on resumes?

computer skills....its not the courses, its your every day experience....hit the basics first, like general software you are familiar with (e.g., Word, Excel, Powerpoint), then specialty software like statistical or modeling programs, then any programing skills you may have. If its not an IT job you are going for, employers are looking for assurance that you can fit in with their normal computer hardware & software environment....not a big deal & generally, most college graduates are more literate in most of the basics than the people that interview them.

As an employer in a professional services industry, I like hearing about ANY employment experiences a new graduate may have had. NOTHING is too trivial, & employers are looking for more than just technical skills.....for instance, the ability to interact with fellow humans is VERY important, so I look for any work experience that shows this, like being a waiter or waitress. Frankly, I am much more interested in deciphering enough about the candidate's personality via their school & educational experiences, that I could give 2 hoots about them blowing this or that course. Of course, some other employers probably simply screen candidates out by grades, but I'd bet most do not, as they'd lose many good prospects that way. Don't sweat your grades too much.....I like seeing your GPA, but thats enough typically.

Hey -

I have built quite a resume and used the Wharton School at Univerisity of Pennsylvania's reccomendations for resumes based on what year of college you are. They have a whole resume guide but I have the link to their resume example page
