I'm trying to get a summer internship and the company is asking for a resume. I'm a graduating senior so I haven't had much work experience. Can anyone show me a template of his or her resume? or tell me what I need to include in the resume? Your help will be appreciated. Thanks.

yeah, include GPA, awards, work experience, volunteer experience, any AP classes, clubs, etc. if you use microsoft word you can get templates for a resume off the website. i used "Elegant resume," it's really nice.

what if you only did a few clubs, have a >3.0 gpa and never volunteered or worked before? what could you put on ur resume?

The clubs you are in are you very involved in them. Personally I have three things that are worth mentioning. For the foremost one I am very, very involved in it more so than most 21 and under kids in the nation. For the second I have put in much dedication and effort to reach the goals I have set. The third I have just put in an awful amount of my life into. :) So if your clubs are very vital to your involvement in ECs than it should not matter that you did not volunteer. However, if you are not involved highly in anything than that would be bad news.

Not much of an involvement is it ;).

Remember it all depends on the selectivity of the firm. On most professional business resumes related work experience is more important than other factors. Usually chess would be considered an interest and is usually put in the LAST line of the resume. HOWEVER as we are high school kids our interests and ECs are foremost so they can be placed in their own section. Have related work skills that may be necessary to whereever you are applying at the top parts. At least that is how I wrote my resume when applying to a bunch of law firms.

go to www.resumeedge.com, and such websites (just type 'resume', 'job' into google and click search, etc...) you'll find A LOT of great templates which u can adjust to fit everything of urs without paying for EXPENSIVE editing services.

"what if you only did a few clubs, have a >3.0 gpa and never volunteered or worked before? what could you put on ur resume?"

for a high school student's resume, it is acceptable to address your personal qualities or skills in general if you feel like you dont have enough clubs or volunteer work to display your qualities. i.e.:

Personal Qualities
- Friendly and works well with others
- Reliable and dedicated

etc. make sure u have a story to back it up though if you're interviewing, since you dont have club experience, they'll wonder, how are you reliable or dedicated? and you can respond with any story that proves that (maybe something in the classroom or helping a friend can count)
