I asked a similar question in the Northwester forum and got no response, so I thought I'd try here.

Basically, my question is this: I have heard that to apply to Northwestern theatre you need to submit a resume. Is this true? If so, how much impact does the resume have on your admissions decision?

I would appreciate it so much if someone could help me out with this!! Thanks!!

Most MT/Acting programs require a resume and headshot at some point in the application/audition process - some ask for it with the college app, some have an audition application that requires HS&R, some require it with other prescreen material, and most also ask for them at the actual audition.

Yes, that is true. I was just wondering because Northwestern is a non-audition BA program and I was wondering if, to apply as a theatre major, a resume was required or suggested.

ask momcares- I believe her daughter goes to NU.

Our D was told to send a resume and headshot once the rest of her application was complete. It is not part of the Common Ap, so I assume aps are still considered without them, but if you have an impressive resume it can only help in NU’s very competitive admissions situation.

Good luck!

I forgot to say that if you don’t already own professional headshots, I would NOT buy them just for college applications/auditions. Just use a recent great shot you already have, or get a friend to take some, or design your senior photos so that they’re suitable.

Above all, be sure to have fantastic grades, test scores, essays and build an impressive list of ECs that demonstrate your theatre accomplishments and passion.
