Resumes in applications

Is it worth attaching resumes that repeat much of the stuff as in the normal application? If so, could anybody link me to any effective formats for a resume?

If it repeats most of the application information, then I say no. For future reference, you can just Google “resume templates” and fine tons. Choose whichever one you like best and will display your accomplishments/experience in the most effective way.

Some “old school” admissions counselors like to recommend this. But as noted above, admissions officers have a TON of applications and a ton of items to review. The last thing they want is something repetitive with the application. Don’t do it… do the best job you can of completing the application as requested.

My advice is to group your activities by category – categories that “define” you, “market” you. For example, if you want to be pre-med, and you have a ton of medical/science experience - put a header like “Medical/Science Activities” and then bullet points under. Make sure to give good descriptions defining the activity – make it deeper than the brief amount used in the Common App 10 activities. This type of resume can help a reader get a quick “grasp” of “you” by glancing at the headers. If you just use the same info straight from the Common App – then don’t submit the resume.
