resumes

is using the 'additional info' section of the app to upload my resume/list and brief explanations of my most significant activities/awards ok? or is it not what that section was intended for?
and if not.. then how did you all attach/send in your 'resumes'?

i uploaded it in the additional info section along with my ap scores.

i uploaded my 2 abstracts for the 2 research papers i wrote.

Columbia is anti-resume, but put it on the additional info

how do you know theyre anti-resume? and its not really a resume, just brief explanations about the acitivities ive done in case they need more detail

they say 'please don't send an additional resume', but i wouldnt worry about it, explanations are probably useful

thanks for telling me
where do they say that?
i might do it anyways.. i dont think it can really hurt
theyll just disregard it

on the paper application, they say it right above the spaces for your activities.

I think you probably should, because like you said, it can't hurt. Columbia was the only one I didn't send extra stuff for in regards to activitites, but I'm applying to engineering so it's more self explanatory.

true, well thanks and goodluck w/everything thoughtprocess!! :)

Here's the best advice I can give you:

My counselor attached my resume along with all of the secondary school information. If you're afraid they're going to get mad at you for sending in more stuff, send it via your school so you won't have to look bad.
I got in without any trouble, and I'm fairly certain they took a look at it. (It had to be the only reason why I got in.)

Yeah, I agree. It does say to refrain from using additional space for things like awards and activities, but then again, if you do include it they're not going to reject you based on that. All my other apps I wrote "Please refer to printed resume." and attached the resume on the back. On this one, in order to make them semi-happy, I did include the awards/activities on their app, but I also submitted my resume for the addtl info (hehe ,oops!). I dunno, once it's there, I'm sure they will read it even if the app says not to. Plus, I, like someone above, included more detail about my activities. I don't care what the admissions office says about leaving it only listing the activities. They can't get a feel for certain activities unless you have space to briefly summarize what they were.

haha, and if they do only want to judge ECs based on a laundry list, then I'll fight them back to try to change that because that's soo superficial. Do that by sending the summaries of the ECs anyways, hehe (plus it is necessary if you want to include things like addtl test scores, i.e. IB/AP)
