I just took the SAT in January and got a 2060 (CR 640 Math 660 WR 760) and I'm wondering whether or not I should retake it because my score was higher than I was expecting to get and I'm not sure if I can score higher my second try. Before I took the SAT last month my practice tests scores were an 1800 average with one test ranging from the high 1800s to 2000s. I don't want to take the test again and score lower. I am not applying to any Ivy colleges so I know that it may not be necessary to retake it but I am applying to USC and Pamona and I feel like it would be better if I can raise my score to at least 2100. If I do take it again should I retake it next month (in March) or wait until October of my senior year so I have more time to study? Any help will be much appreciated. Thank You!

Honesty, I would retake it. The section that you did the best in, writing, is generally least emphasized by many schools. I would suggest taking it again, and even with minor prep, you could realistically score 2150-2200.

I got a similar score and I’m definitely retaking it since I only did half of a practice test. I think you have the potential to reach your goal for sure! I think you should retake it but make sure you have time to prepare efficiently :)

Retake it and try for a better score. I’m positive a little prep will help you get into the 2100 range.
