retake 2290?

so its not the score im upset about, it's the breakdown
CR 800
M 800
WR 690 (66, 10 essay)

I want to retake writing since on the PSAT I got 78 with 1 wrong (which was about 3 months ago).

Don't retake. If you got solid SAT II scores, good grades in english, that 690 really shouldnt make a difference.

Why would you want to retake a 2290? The adcoms will reject you since you're trying too hard to impress them. If I was an adcom, I would frown at an applicant retaking a 2290 indeed.

Writing is kind of a worthless section anyway. Don't bother.

I'm assuming this is your first time taking the SAT. If you thought you could do much better in the writing (ie. maybe 800), i would retake.

It is my first time. I wouldn't retake it if my scores were equally distributed (760s and 770s), but Im just shocked at how much I dropped in writing since my PSAT. So I guess it comes down to if the writing score really matters that much for the Class of 07 and if losing some points in CR/M is worth gaining some in WR.

Right now, colleges aren't bothering with the writing since there're no percentile ranks and its the first year of introduction. Next school year though, they could matter. Basically, if you're a senior, they don't matter. If you're a junior or below, you might want to work on it.

I don't know about other schools, but Chapel Hill has told this year's applicants that they are not taking the writing section into consideration as it is the first year given.

Don't retake, just show the adcoms that the score is a fluke with outstanding essays. Your M+CR are all that really matter to most schools anyhow.

do the SATII writing to make it up i guess?

SAT II writing is not given anymore. Your writing will be considered as the old SAT II writing. How were your other SAT II's? Were they around 690? If so, let it be. And by the way, you got a 10, very respectable. Your MC is where you were lacking. Leave it alone.
