What do you guys think my chances are for the following schools?

Cornell University
Duke University
University of Michigan (OS)
Northwestern University
Princeton University
Stanford University
Swarthmore College
University of Chicago
Washington University in St. Louis

I realize that most of these are stretch/ super stretch schools. I have taken my safety schools such as University of Maine off the list because… well, yeah.

Thank you!

Simple answer: No

I think you are in everywhere except for waitlists at Princeton and Duke.

Thanks for the simple answer dixie, I appreciate it. I guess I'll just give up. I also realized that I posted this in the wrong place. Sorry.

don't worry, Therifleman62. some people here just act like unsympathetic jerks, and you can't pay attention to them.

anyway - i think you have good chances at most of those schools, although you may have a little trouble with p'ton and swat. then again, everybody does, so it's nothing to worry about.

@ Therifleman62,

You have a good shot.

Princeton may be hard/ but others you have a good candidacy

The ECs are probably the weakest part/ they're all competitions but it doesn't show your personality to necessarily contribute to society or make it into a better place, and ivy leagues such as Princeton usually look at those a lot.

Cornell University~meh, probably good chance
Duke University~likewise
University of Michigan (OS)~yep
Northwestern University~i dont know too much, but from what I hear, >50%
Princeton University~no one with your stats is guranteed
Stanford University~likewise
Swarthmore College~in
University of Chicago~in
Washington University in St. Louis~in

onevoice, in my common app essay about my chess coach, I relate chess to real life (i.e. helping with risk-taking), but of course my ECs do not have the breadth that most other candidates for these schools have. My biggest concern is my class rank. Stanford has a 2% acceptance rate for people below the 20th percentile…

But your SAT is almost perfect! It seems to me even though you are in top 25% - perhaps a lot of kids are like you at your school - so maybe that doesn't mean as much. Do you know the difference between your GPA and the valedictorian.

I like the depth of your EC's. I wish I took up chess...used to be pretty good at it (for a second grader)...

Good chance at all, though none can be considered "safeties" for anyone.

haha...effective title!

bump 10char

I think you have great chances at al of your schools, as a matter of fact, I'd say they are all 100%, with guaranteed full scholarships and $30000 per second stipends.

yeah i think you've got them all, princeton with a good essay and stuff of that quality
