Retake 3rd time?

Hey guys should I retake the SAT for the third time in October?

My first test I had a 1620

Second I got a 1880

I really want to at the very least break the 2000 barrier or possibly score even higher
Thanks =)

(Oh and I'm asking this because I don't want to seem like I am obsessed about the Sat toward colleges)

Instead of retaking the SAT just because you want to get above 2000, you should find out the average SAT scores of the people who get accepted to the colleges you will apply to and try to get above that. If most people get accepted to a certain university with a score of 1700 on the SAT, your score of 1860 is probably fine, and you should not retake.

Three times isn’t too bad. If you study enough and are confident that you can increase your score, I say go for it.

I’m in the almost exact same boat at you - 1680 first time then 1870 this time. I’m retaking. My goal is to break 2000 for UNC, so I’m going to be spending this summer studying…a lot.

It seems like you’ve improved your score a lot but I agree it really does depend on the college you’re shooting for…find out what their “cutoff”(s) are. Take some practice tests, and if you’re consistently getting over 2000, then I say go for it :)
