I just wanted to post and say that my daughter was just accepted to Yale this past week and her subject test scores were as follows US HIstory- 740 Latin 680 and Math 2 660… so take that for what it is worth. She was a whole lot more than her subject tests. She only took them once and spent more time making sure the answers she put were correct rather than just finishing the test. Her Single sitting SAT was 2220 and I think that it was obvious that there was a discrepancy between the tests. I think if you focus on the bigger picture rather than one pixel, your odds will increase. You should be more than a really good test score (and you did fine in my book)
Well, I don’t know. I guess I don’t really disagree with the others, but in fact, a 770 on this particular SAT 2 doesn’t mean what the same score does on other tests. What it does mean is harder to say, though. What I would say is that if you would have to pour a lot of resources into retaking it, don’t bother. But if it’s just a matter of brushing up on some items and trying again, there isn’t really any harm that I can see, other than the time.
I do not disagree with Post #21, but the economist and CEO in me perked up at the end. From another perspective, time is the only thing you have; it is the ultimate scarcity; and, it is the most valuable asset you have to trade. Therefore, if you are using it for negeligble to no gain, then it is a real loss, as you could use that time to do something else more likely to give a tangible return. You cannot trade to get time back, so be extra smart in how you use it. Good luck in your college applications!
Also, in a situation like this, you have to look into your own soul. If you don’t retake, will you be second-guessing your decision for years to come, or will you be able to write it off and forget about it?
Personal anecdote here: I got a 710 on Math 2 and a 700 on Chemistry, and I was recently accepted to Yale.
I like @hunt answer the best.
And if you do retake and your score drops, will you kick yourself for wasting time??
