So the first time that I took the sat, I got a 2090, 780M, 740 W and 570 CR. I wanted to raise that CR grade, so I studied really hard for it. I didn't even think to study for the other two because I thought that even if they go down a little, that at least my superscore would be okay. This time I got a 750 M, 650 W and 730 CR for a 2130. Since I dropped 90 points in W and 30 points in M, the difference between my highest single sitting 2130, and my superscore 2250 is 120. Should I take it a 3rd time to close that gap? I'm looking to apply to NYU Stern, UMich and Carnegie Mellon as my top 3 choices. Please help me.

How is your GPA? If they are in the ballpark as your SAT then don’t bother. Your scores are fine for those schools.

If you have time for it, study more and take it. If you’d rather spend time doing internship, studying for SAT IIs, raising your GPA, or doing other stuff, don’t bother. 2250 is a good score!

Your superscore is really great. Make sure that all your top choice colleges accept superscores. If so, then I would say focus on SAT IIs, APs, and your GPA.

My gpa is about a 3.6, which is a little bit on the lower end for these schools, with the averages for their business schools being ~3.7-3.8, although, my high school is ranked by us news at about 50th in the country, so I don’t know how much of an impact that has. Only about half of the schools that I’m applying to superscore. I’ll have time over the summer to study for the October test, so time isn’t the issue. Should I retake?
