I think I've jumped on the CC bandwagon. Is 1500 V+M (790-Verbal / 710-Math) & 750 Writing (2250 total) worth retaking? Cheers.

if you think that you can improve, yes.

thats a good score. Math score is ok depends on where you want to go

I personally would say there is no point in retaking. If you have a 700+ on all sections, you're solid for pretty much all schools in the country. Unless you're aiming for HYPS, and even then I would doubt they'd reject you.

What are your Subject Test scores like? If they're all over 720, I wouldn't bother. If not...then maybe.

I think that's a pretty solid score. But like stuck-on-1700 said, if you can improve, go for it.

BTW I like your username, Pompous Bastard. ;)

No, you pompous bastard.

But seriously, retake if:

a) You're sure you can do better AND
b) You're sure you can devote time to improve AND
c) You're sure you need to retake to put yourself into the running/improve your chances for a college you're applying to. (For example, a person applying to MIT might want to improve the 710 Math score).

IT depends on what type of school you want to go to, and what major. Unless you're a math/engineering major or going for the very top schools, you're fine with what you have. I did retake a 2260, however, btw. I'm glad I did now. 690cr 780m 790w to 800cr 790m and 630cr...for a 1590/2380 total composite :-D

Thanks for all the comments. To answer a few of your questions, I want to work toward a graduate JD/MBA degree with minors in subjects such as Philosophy. College wise for undergraduate studies, I'm thinking maybe UVA- ivies, in my opinion, are not worth the additional cost. I do have one SAT II, U.S. History - 750. Thanks and keep talking! (P.S. to Runner - what happened to writing on the second test?)

Any school that would give near full tuition based on merit probably wouldn't have any problem giving it to a 2250-scorer. At one of my reputable (relatively speaking) state universities, you need a 1410 to qualify for a full-tuition scholarship. You have a 1500, nuff said.

I had 2200 and retook, though, I met all 3 of my requirements.

April: 770 CR 720 M 710 W
June: 640 CR 780 M 750 W

If you know you can do better and you devote time, an increase becomes more likely. If you find out that it would help you, then that increase means something in the end.

Hate to play devil's advocate, but I just wanted to also say that I'm from an economically depressed area (WV) & am a minority (50% Amerindian - Guyana - South America). Help my case any (snicker)?

No not at all.

Heck yes it helps your case. Why are you even considering retaking? :P Well, then again, my scores were only a bit worse and I retook as a URM. I like your subtle humor, though.

I honestly don't know what happened to the writing. I'm telling myself I didn't try because I knew I already had a 790, but I think in reality I just luckily got a good curve the first time I took it.
