I didn't prepare, and if i did im 95% sure I will get a 800.

Is it worth the time and effort? I am applying to Ivy Leagues, etc

This is because I am taking the chem and lit test as well in october.. should I just take the math one then too?
I am asian. If that changes anything. Haha.

I will bet you someone will post the quote by MIT chris.
However could it hurt me by retaking and getting an 800? will it show score obssession or something like that?
thanks for the reply btw.

It might, but keep in mind that score choice is made for circumstances like this. Just don’t send the 770 score and they’ll figure you got an 800 the first time around.

FYI: Even if the school demands all scores, there is no indication on the score report whether score choice was used or not. So you can use score choice no matter what. Only very few schools decline it anyway, so you’re basically fine.

^ Good point. If you were to use Score Choice at all, you would probably want to have those scores removed from your transcript (they don’t have the right to breach your privacy in that way).

^ I don’t mean they look at percentile. I mean they understand the generous curve of Math II and hence, a 770 doesn’t look as appealing as it would generally in a subject such as Literature.

I personally wouldn’t retake. Unless you already are planning to take other subject tests, in which case you could take it as your second or third test on that day.

I’m sure that colleges that require the SAT IIs understand the generosity of Math II’s curve. But a 770 could mean only a few questions difference from a (low) 800, so they don’t really see the scores THAT much differently.

Are you seriously considering this? Do you really think that getting 30 points
higher on some multiple choice test will be the deciding factor? Seriously come
on a 770 is good enough and anyone with some common sense would not bother
to retake it. And besides what if you end up doing worse when you retake it? Did
you even consider that?
