I am applying to a competitive engineering school, as a result I want to make sure my GPA is high as possible. I have 1 C, 2 Bs and rest are all As. I will be transferring for 2017 Spring.
My questions is, should I retake the class I got a C in to raise my GPA? Or Should I get an A in one of the pre-requisite classes so that by the time I apply, they can see that I did good in that class?
The problem is, the 2 classes have a schedule conflict, so I can only take one of them. Which one? Should I also consider retaking a class I got a B in (Calc 3)? Money isn’t a problem.
Don’t worry about one C. Leave it. Focus on getting top grades in the rest of your classes.
@happymomof1 Thanks for the advice. So I was thinking of re-taking 2 of my classes (1 B and 1 C) for A’s. Instead I should take 2 other new classes and get A in them. That would be the better choice for me correct?
@QuantumObserver I don’t think you can retake a C and B course, but if you can, retake the class with a C, it’s pretty bad.
@QuantumObserver - You are correct. Take the two new classes, and concentrate on getting the best grade possible in both of them.
@nhtrvn - A C is not an F, and it isn’t even a D. In almost all situations, the only grades that might merit retaking a class are an F or a D. In rare instances (for example if a B in a specific course is absolutely necessary in order to remain in a particular major) it may be necessary for a student to retake a course because of a C grade.
