I have a 31C ACT but superscored to be 34.
I am applying to very selective schools (top 20+ on USNEWS)
Should I retake it?
p.s. I already took it 4 times.
For whatever reason, many top 20 schools do not superscore the ACT. Have you tried the SAT?
No, i didnt but most of my schools that im applying to seems to superscore the act.
You’ve taken it four times? I wouldn’t have you retake it, unless you feel all four of your earlier scores were abnormally low for you for a specific reason (you were ill during all four takes, for example…) But otherwise, you’ve taken it four times, that’s enough.
Considering you’ve taken it 4x, no I wouldn’t. It wouldn’t be a great way to use your time and the colleges, because are superscoring, will see the number of times you’ve taken it. Yes, other scores don’t count against you but if you’ve taken the exam multiple times with little improvement, it can raise a red flag for admissions
4 times already? No more! This is old but shows that there is no reason to retake
This is interesting, but don’t take it any more https://www.act.org/content/dam/act/unsecured/documents/2016-Tech-Brief-MultipleTesters.pdf
thanks everyone…but i still want a higher score and i feel like i can get a higher score if i take it once more. wat should i do
Do you get a much higher score on the practice tests? If so, then take the ACT one more time. If not, leave it at this, or you’ll just be wasting time and money. Instead, maybe try the SAT? Personally, I like SAT much better.
