I received a 34 taking the ACT for my first time in December. I'm not very strong in english and reading, so I was quite happy to receive my score. But, my counselor told me that it wouldn't hurt to retake it.

Should I still retake it if I don't think I could improve much? (W: 33 M: 36 R: 31 S: 36 WR: 9)

More importantly, does a 34 and a 35 make a difference in the admissions process for the most selective schools (eg. Princeton, Stanford, MIT, UPenn, Columbia)?

Also, is there any advantage in filling in one score over two or three scores that are the same or worse?

Is there an "easier" test date that I should choose?

Are there any particular study methods for the Reading section?

Thanks! I don’t really want to sit down and prep to try to increase my score by 1. The difference between one higher and one lower is only two questions so I don’t know if I should take it again.

If the top colleges are not going to reject me just because of my test score, then I won’t bother retaking it. If it really matters, then I would definitely sit down and start doing some serious preparation work.

My english is not very good, so I am happy in that my score is higher than what I should get without the insane prep needed for SAT (~200 points lower).
