Retake ACT?

I got my scores back for the April ACT and ended up with Composite: 33 English: 34 Math: 34 Reading: 31 Science: 31 and Writing: 9 I'm currently a sophomore and unsure of where I want to for college, but expect where I go to be pretty competitive. I've heard several people tell me that it's a waste of my time to take the ACT any more times; however, I feel as as if I could bring my score up to a 35-36. One pretty much told me that I'm not going to get a 36 because "no one gets a 36 on the ACT" (I honestly think this person just didn't want me doing any better than him than I already have on the ACT). For this past ACT I did absolutely no prep aside from the ACT style MPTs my AP Biology teacher gives.

So my question is, would it be in my best interest to take it one or two more times? And if so, what can I do to improve my score?

No. Go out and do something you like that isn’t academic. Stop worrying.

Take the test if you feel you can do better on it! Unless you’re completely certain that your school of choice will offer you a scholarship (or admissions, depending on your goal), you always have room for improvement. In my region, a 33 generally guarantees a full scholarship to any state university, but a 34 generally transcends the full scholarship cutoff for any private university. Also, if you’re a sophomore, you probably haven’t exhausted your learning potential; unless you completely don’t want to take the test, you can probably improve with your own practice schedule.
