Hey guys, so i got 33 composite.

E:33
M:34
R:35
S:29
W:9

I am kinda happy with the score, but not too much, since I got quite an average score in science (at least for competitive universities). I am planning on majoring in a science-related major along with engineering (bio or chemical engineering perhaps). So I was wondering if this low score in my science section will be looked at by competitive UC's (Davis, LA, Berkeley, SD), and other top tier private colleges? Any input is very much appreciated! :D

Depends on the number of times you have taken it. If it is your first time at the test then I’d say go ahead and retake. If this was your 3rd ACT test or more then I encourage you to be done. Anywhere in between (2) is iffy and requires you to look into where your applying (although a 33 won’t get you rejected anywhere for low standardize testing scores).

oh it’s my first, and i haven’t really done as well as in SAT, so i am only going to be doing ACT for now

Thats a great score but if it is only your first test I would encourage you to take it one more time. It wouldn’t hurt- plus you would have the opportunity to get your science score up!

yea i think i might retake, maybe during august if possible

It all depends. If you want to major in science, then I suggest you retake it. Otherwise then, your scores are fine for most great institutions. Since you want to major in a scientific field, retake it in june.
