I plan on being a chem and history major. I finally got my may score back today. But unfortunately I got a 780 on chem and 790 on USH. I took APs on both of those subjects. Should I retake it if i'm aiming for ivies?

Absolutely, otherwise it's community college for you.

Shut Up!!!!!

I know you didn't mean it..but these kinda posts hurt a lot of kids here. Like it breaks their heart because they think 750 is excellent. Or even 710. Or even something lower.

I got an 800 on Chem and USH on my first try without any prep books, but I think I might have missed one question in Chem. Should I retake it?

750 IS excellent. An 800 won't do much more for you than a 750 could

I think if you retake those you will just spend more time then neccessary taking tests when you could spend time reviewing and that Saturday morning actually learning Chem or US history and improving your knowledge/grasp on what you really love.

I realize that it is a good score. However, I kind of became a little complacent with tests since like most of you say 700+ is acceptable. But I'm kind of in my own reality right now.
So what is considered a good score?
KY: I realize that. I could be reading books or studying organic chemistry.

I think most ppl (here) think 750+ is a good score. Personally I like anything over a 770, but you already have my opinion.

PS: just by chance, do you know of a good org. chem book? b/c i also want to major in chemistry.

If you get below an 800 on any SAT II subject test, the secret police will come from the Ivy league schools and murder you in your sleep. You don't deserve to live if you haven't beaten 99.99% of people...

Step it up or face the wrath of the Harvcornupennbrowndartcolumbprincetoninator police

And for goodness sake, you wouldn't want to make others around you feel pathetic when you ask whether you should retake a test when you have already received an all-most perfect score....would you?

That's just pompous.

leave the almost perfect scores alone and work on ur g.p.a or e.c- for once people look beyond ur grades

Hey, can we make a new cc rule, something like this: if you get an extremely high score on either your sat ii's or your sats and then get on this board and ask if you should retake in order to "improve" your nearly perfect score, this automatically qualifies as an offensive post and you are banned from cc for a month while, hopefeully, you learn some humility and when it might be best just to keep your mouth shut.

Hey, 780/790 are not bad scores! I got a 790 on a SAT II subject test last year too, but I'm satisfied with it and I'm not retaking it. If you retake it, there are several things that could happen. Maybe you may not do as well the second time. Or the colleges you apply to make look at the scores and think that "oh no, it's another obsessive compulsive perfectionist kid". Be happy, and go work on something else! Anyways, good job on achieving such good scores.

This is equivalent of me asking if i got 2380 SAT, SHOULD I RETAKE IT. As coldcomfort said, learn a little humility.
