Hey, I recently took the March 2011 SAT test, and received my scores this morning. I got a 790 on math, 800 on writing, and a 670 on the critical reading. What really sticks out like a sore thumb is the critical reading, so I was wondering if I should retake the SAT in May or June just to improve my critical reading score.

I'm not sure if what I heard is correct (guidance counselors), but do some colleges look at your best score for each section, or the overall score for the test. An example would be if I took another SAT, received a 780 in critical reading but 600's in math and writing. Would they care if my score in the other two sections dropped a lot?

If they do care about the overall test rather than individual sections, then it probably isn't worth the risk of getting a lower score on math and writing, right?

Also, I have heard this from my friends, but do most colleges pay closer attention to math and critical reading? Because if so, then I would guess that retaking the test is a good choice.

Thanks a bunch for taking your time to read this!
