Retake on Chem SAT II?

I took the Chem SAT II last year (10th grade) and received a 770. Hopefully I will be applying to many premed programs and for most of these programs, a Chem and Math SAT II is necessary.

I know my 770 is a great score, but many people who will apply to these tough premed programs may have a better score then me.

So my question is: is it worth it to retake the Chem SAT II and potentially score a 800? (I think that if I were to retake it I would receive an 800 because I am in AP Chem this year)
Or is it not worth it and a 770 is essentially as good as an 800?

Also, I called the College Board and they said that colleges will only see the SAT II's I want them to see, so they will have no way of knowing that I took the Chem SAT II twice. So this is not an issue.

Thanks for your responses.

Chem has a very nice curve that can hurt your percentile if you don’t get an 800 (which is 95 percentile I think). So I think that a 770 would be in the mid 80 percentile. Retake it if you are interested in top tier schools.

if i were a college and you retook a 770, i would reject you.

i got a 790, and didn’t retake it. i’m glad i didn’t, i spent that saturday having fun. you should too =)

I’m in a similar situation as you. I also took the Chem SAT last year as a sophomore without the AP course and got a 770, but I’ve decided to not take it again and take bio and physics instead. My opinion is that if chem is your strength and you are sure you can get a 800, then certainly retake it, because unlike what stephennn said, college won’t be able to know how many times you’ve taken the test thanks to score choice. If it is not, then spend your time on your ECs or try another subject test.
