Ok my May SAT results:
Composite: 2130
CR:770
Math:650 :(
Writing:710

I have to retake the ACT next year, so should I focus on just the ACT or should I prepare for the SAT as well. I'm applying to HYP as a biology major, if that matters.

What is your ACT score? If you seem to do better on the ACT, focus on that. But if SAT score is what you’re after, I would probably try retaking it.

You have got a very excellent CR score, but you can make a big step on math by a huge amount of practice and definitely you can got 2200+

I think that is a very good score; however if you are applying to HYP, you should probably retake. As Jasper said, you can improve quite a bit on Math and that can bring you up significantly. That being said, my son did much better on the ACT, and if you have a high score there, you may not need to worry about retaking.

For HYP, you need to bring your SAT to 1500+/2200+. A low math score would definitely not impress them.

I would retake. Try to get that math score up.

What’s your ACT score? If it’s higher, then just focus on that.

Retake. HYP applicants should have 2200+. But do you have a hook/high ACTs?

Could definitely do better in math, but I disagree that you MUST have 2200 to get into Ivies- there many who get in with 2100, and I’m sure many got in with a 2190.

LOL. Nothing is definite. But in general one would have a better chance with 2200+. This is based on admission stat. You want to be above average, or at least near average, to have a fair chance. There are always outliners that have great EC or hooks that got admitted with lower scores.

^ now I agree. Yes, a better chance with 2200+, but to say that one MUST have is not correct. My son got into JHU with an ACT of 30, which is less than a 2200 SAT.

If you think you can raise it by more than 100 points, then yes.
