Retake or not?

Hello,
I would just like any advice on whether I should retake my SAT I or not. I planned to be applying to various Ivies as well as Stanford.

These are my current scores:
Math: 790
Verbal: 660
Writing: 730 (11 on essay)
Total: 1450 / 2180

Obviously my dilemma lies in the Verbal score. Is it worth taking it again to raise the Verbal score with the risk of the Math score dropping slightly?

Any advice would be great.
Thanks

same problem with me.....

I'm retaking it in october for CR also. I'm sure knowing that you only have to focus on one section will allow you to perform better. Of course, DON'T compeltely blow off the other two sections. Most colleges mix, so this is a great opportunity.

I'd just like to point out that the old "Verbal" section is now the "Critical Reading" section.

Yes, you should retake it, since they only look at your highest scores, it won't matter if you score lower on the other two, but you have a much greater chance, almost guaranteed (I think), that you'll score higher on the CR.

Thank you both for your advice. I am leaning towards retaking it now that I have given it more thought.
Anyone else agree or possibly disagree?

I'm in the same boat and am retaking for the CR grade.

Just retake, who cares if the math goes down. Your critical reading is too low to not do anything about it. Realistically your total score needs to be higher to be competitive for Stanford and the Ivies.

The higher-tier schools more often take the highest individual scores, so don't worry about it.
