i'm going to be applying to top colleges such as duke. i got a 33, which i am happy with. most colleges dont superscore act and on the math section i got a 32, which brought my composite score down. the other act i got a 35 in math. should i take it again to raise my math up? im good at math: i got all A+s in all the math classes i took and got a 780 on my sat math. i just blanked out on the math portion. will colleges know i probably just messed up?

First of all a 33 is a really really good score, definitly competitive with what Duke would want, colleges dont superscore ACT so your highest composite is what they will see but the difference between a 33-34 is really small, I wouldn’t retake but it’s up to you

^ agreed. i wouldn’t retake it if i were you. the chances that a point or two higher than a 33 would make or break your application are slim. 33 is an awesome score! you already have other math grades/scores to back it up.

ok cool. thanks you guys! i just hope my dad doesnt make me retake it. i think i raised his hopes up too high.

Just as there’s a sizable difference between a 31 and 33, there’s a large difference between a 33 and 35.

Are you hooked? If not, I’d retake for a 35+.

It’s up to you, I’m retaking my 33 since I got a 28 in science, and if I improve that section, I can definitely get a 34 or a 35, which I think would definitely boost my chances.

hmmm. no i dont have a hook. these are my subsection scores:

english:34 (same as last test)
math:32 (three point drop)
science:33 (5 point boost)
reading:34 (5 point boost)

i looked in the chart and all the sections are in the 99th percentile except for math (97)

so… retake or not?

If you think you can do better yeah, I’m retaking mine since I just need to improve one section to go from a 33 to 34/35, but a 33 is pretty good so idk do w/e u want

i got a 29 comp, 31 M,S,E…23 Reading,…lol…Im gonna retake cause I can get a 30-31 a 33 is really good but if you think you can do better you might as well redo it, nothing to lose
