I plan to apply to Columbia, Upenn, Northwestern, NYU, Johns Hopkins, Emory, and Georgetown. I called Columbia and Upenn and got some of my questions answered. Okay, so my questions are…

Will these colleges combine my highest scores from the OLD and NEW SAT?

Should I retake the NEW SAT just for the purpose of getting a higher writing score?

How many SAT II’s are necessary? When I called an admissions advisor at Upenn, she told me that Upenn would look at my “NEW SAT scores, two highest SAT II scores, and the highest SAT composite score would include the NEW and Old SAT. Taking the test three times or more will not hurt you because we will only consider your highest scores. Any extra SAT II’s you take besides your two highest scoring SAT II’s will not play a role in the admission decision.”

So here are my scores:
Old SAT-Math:700, Verbal:730
New SAT-Math 790, Verbal:650, Writing:650

Currently, I plan to take the SAT II Biology and Math IIC tests in May. I’m prepared for Math IIC but may have to take the SAT II Biology over again. However, if I decide to take the NEW SAT over in June, i won’t be able to take the SAT II Biology in June. Even more confusing, I plan to apply for early decision for Columbia.

Here is my plan (tell me if this is necessary): Take SAT II Biology and Math IIC in May, Take NEW SAT in June, Take SAT II Biology (if necessary), SAT II Math IIC (if necessary), and SAT II Chemistry in October; Last, take SAT II Chemistry again (if necessary) in November

Early Decision deadline is November 3; Both Admission staff workers at Columbia and Upenn said “You can take an SAT II test in November, but you will need to send it by rush delivery via Collegeboard. There is no guarantee we will receive your scores in time. Usually, though, 90% of the time the scores are sent on time.”

Considering all these factors, what is your advice? I greatly appreciate your time and attention. Thanks a lot! If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I will also try to help you out as much as possible.
