Retake Question

I took the SAT in March and scored a 2300. I know that 2300 is a good score and I am proud of it, but my breakdown by section was 710CR/800M/790W. I know that I can score higher than 710 on reading and consistently did on the practice tests I took prior to taking the real SAT. For the purpose of admissions to the most selective colleges, does it make sense to retake the SAT to improve my reading score? Especially since I already have 800/790 for superscoring purposes?

A 2300 is probably good enough to get into even the most selective colleges (assuming you have the EC's and GPA to go along with it) but it can't hurt to retake the SAT for the sake of superscoring purposes, epecially if you know you just had an off-day on that reading section or something.

I fell victim to a killer curve. -4 = 710

Ouch. In that case, though, you'd be almost certain to improve that CR score with a retake. Can't hurt, right?

typically id say its not worth it -- but if you can get that up to a 770/780 it would really set your application apart (assuming you had the gpa and ecs to go with it) -- so if you're confident you can do that, id say go for it!

D took SAT in March and scored a 2270: CR - 800; M - 770; W - 700. She was pleased with her CR/M scores, but knew she could do better on the W. She took the SAT again in May and scored a 2300: CR - 750; M - 750; W - 800. Superscored - 2370. Anyway, she was pleased she took it the second time.
