Retake Sat 1 or 2 or do ACT?

Hi there =o

just need a bit of advice, i'm kinda confused at this point...

My Sat 1 breakup is:

M: 740
CR: 710
WR: 720

My Sat 2's are:

M1: 760
M2: 730
Lit: 660

Now the thing is, i gave math 2 and literature separately from math 1. however, 10 days before i was supposed to give them i got dengue, and therefore ended up in hospital till the day of exam... so no revision time or anything = kinda fail =(

so since there's the january test date left, i was wondering whether it would be smarter to take math 2 and literature again AND THEN take the ACT in february, because i'm pretty sure almost all, if not all, the colleges on my list accept the feb ACT,

OR leave the SAT 2s as they are and just retake SAT 1,

bear in mind i've never given the ACT b4 :P

Just to give you an idea of the colleges im applying to so you can contextualize:

-Yale
-Georgetown
-Tufts
-UVA
-George Washington

You are a shoe in at GW, and a FAR reach at Yale-

If you take ACT then you don’t need subject tests, so if I were you I would retake a the SAT1 because a 2170 isn’t quite enough for Yale/GTown/UVA…

Nah, it’s not about scores really. A 2170 can get you in any of them, but you need the ECs and community service and a good essay.

I don’t think that GreedisGood is correct in saying that “if you take ACT then you don’t need subject tests.” Also, Georgetown requires 3 SAT subject tests, and many colleges won’t accept both the Math 1 and the Math 2 tests.

To answer this question definitively, you’ll need to go to the source in each case. This prevents you from relying on inaccurate information and gives you the confidence that you’re doing the right thing. Go to each college’s website and determine exactly what each requires for SAT subject tests. Also, check each website to find which is the last testing date each will accept.

Are you in the US?

At Yale you do not need to send subject tests if you send the ACT.

^Thanks for the clarification. One still needs subject tests even with the ACT for the colleges to which my daughter is applying, so I think the OP should check for each of his other chosen colleges to make sure of their policies.

The reason I asked whether the OP is in the US is that the last testing date each college will accept may vary depending on whether the student is in the US or not.

@Shokolade (Awesome name btw :P)

No I’m not in the USA =/

I’m an international :P,

i checked all of colleges a while back, and i guess i’ll do it again, but most of them don’t mind the ACT in feb if i remember correctly, even if im an international,

i mailed gtown a while ago bout m1 and m2 and they’re fine with it, so its okay on that front…

as for all the other colleges they want 2 so im just sending all 3 and letting em have a look =)

@cjgone

i know that there’s alot of other factors involved as well, but i just wanted to know whether these were reasonable sat scores to apply to the universities in question with,

i have alot of EC’s, moreso than any1 applying from my school :o, nd i was the chairman of our schools CS program as well as helping out at an NGO for underprivelidged kids every week for 2-3 hours

i’m not really trying to make this a chance thread, but just check on what action in terms of standardized testing would be smartest for me going forward, if at all :o

bump
any more advice?
