Retake SAT for engineering?

See, I got CR: 800, M: 720, W: 800 with 12 essay my first time.

Those CR and W scores are phenomenal. But I want to go into engineering, not humanities. And that M score looks terrible compared with those double 800s.

So I'm wondering, should I retake the SAT? I'm looking at the selective engineering colleges, such as Stanford, Berkeley, etc. I knew which questions I got wrong once I left the test center, but I'm afraid of my score going down if I retake it, as well as colleges thinking I'm some "2400-obsessed" student.

Thoughts?

A 720 in M is not terrible. Schools will evaluate your application by reviewing all of your submitted material, not merely your SAT score.

I generally recommend that each applicant take the SAT at least twice. However, you may have more productive things to do with your time, given your 2320. Many schools will look at the M score more closely when evaluating applicants for placement in their Engineering programs.

Yes, a 720 is a bit weak for top engineering schools, but not terrible. If you have other compensating factors (e.g. good grades in advanced math courses, qualified for AIME, etc.) I wouldn’t worry about it. Otherwise, might be a good idea to retake.

Focus on your SATII math2 score

Ah, almost forgot about that. A strong SATII math score could also compensate.

Go with brownparents advice. The difference between a 720 and 800 is about four questions. Not that big of a deal. Focus on ur sat 2 and transcript. Dont obsess over the sat 1
