i'm going into 11th grade, and i wanted to know if i should retake these in october if i'm starting to consider the top notch colleges? (i also took the ap in chemistry which i positively have a 4 in, most likely a 5)

well, i would say that you definitely should retake both of them, especially the chem.
make then 750+ so they won’t hurt you in your application.
so i suppose ur math grade is not superb, so if u do well in math, retake it. u r a upcoming junior and u have lots of time!

the problem with retaking it is that i’m taking AP us history, AP english lit+language, AP psychology, AP BC calculus, and AP physics next year as a junior so i highly doubt i will have the time or the brains to force chem back into my head if i were to retake the chemistry.

i know the reason i didn’t get ideal scores is because i legitimately studying the friday before the SAT II testing dates. i completely FORGOT all of my precalc since i started calc in the spring of sophomore year which explains the 750 in math so i’m sure if i study and review for that i should be able to get a higher score.

as for the chemistry, i just don’t think i’ll have the time nor the energy to really review for chem prior to the retake in the fall because i’ll be occupied with all my other AP classes.

btw, i got a 5 on the AP for chemistry, do you think that’s okay? also, i plan to not major in math or science for sure…

thanks! sorry if it seemed like i was panicking, but almost everyone i’ve spoken to regarding the retaking of my SAT IIs told me that i definitely should retake the chemistry.

Why not take 3 new SATs in other subject areas that you will study junior year? You will have prepped for the AP exams in May. Prepping for SAT 2’s in June shouldn’t be too much extra work. Then report the best scores once you find out which they are. It’s good to have high scores in your major if you are declaring one, or in math if you plan on a science or engineering. That is when retaking for highest possible score would be worthwhile. Also, some top schools accept “slightly” lower math scores from female applicants to hard science and engineering majors (doesn’t apply to bio-related fields), FWIW.

your scores are good, and you have a full plate next year so concentrate on that instead.
maybe take U.S. or physics if you still aren’t satisfied with your chem score, but it honestly is not that bad

thanks!
yeah, i fully intend on taking at least 3 SAT subject tests next year, including but not limited to US history, physics, literature, german… pretty much everything i’m taking APs for too
