Retake SAT?

Should I retake the SAT again this November? I have already submitted my ED agreement and supplement to Duke. However, I have not sent the common app yet, because I want to mark that I will be testing again in November, should I choose to do (lets assume they will recieve the scores on time). My first SAT scores were 650M, 650CR, and 550W 8 essay. Then in October I scored 650M, 680CR, and 620W 8 essay. Sueprscored, I am at 1950. I studied out of the Blue Book for three weeks leading up to the test. I scored from 690 to 730 on the math out of 7 practice tests. However, the time contraints killed me on the actual test because I was not able to attempt the last two problems on each section. In writing, I am well capable of scoring very high on the m/c, but I am not sure if can get passed an 8 on the essay.

I know Duke ranks the SAT score on a scale from 1 to 5, as well as 5 other categories. I know no one knows the cut offs of this scale, but would the possibility of improving my score to at or over 2000 be worth attempting to test standby in November?

I am an African American male.

Ehh, you already took it twice, so I wouldn’t take it a third time unless you really knew that you would do better. Your scores are rather low, although your background will undoubtedly help you with admissions.

1950 is just outside the mid-50 range, so I think you could still get in with that score. If you’ve already done subject tests, retaking couldn’t hurt lol.

It’s like a 20th percentile score

A 1950 is 91st Percentile

Other people in this thread are referring to the percentile among admitted students at Duke

Got it, 10char

The 25th percentile for admitted students is 2040 for Trinity.
