Retake SATs in transferring?

Is this standard procedure and is it advisible? Especially if high school record wasnt that great?

Inasmuch as your high school record is of little importance for junior transfers, only retake it if you are applying to a top twenty school as a sophomore transfer.

I’ll have to disagree with trojan. Anytime a school requires standardized scores, they will use it as a factor in admission. And since its one of the more malleable factors, I would suggest taking it again if both your HS score and HS gpa are weak.

Best of luck :)

Check the policies of each school you are considering. Some accept SATs taken after college matriculation; some don’t. I think there are more of the former, but the only thing that matters is the particular schools you are considering. As well, check whether the require or consider them at all; as wayward_trojan says, less likely to factor in for junior transfer.

I agree with some of the posts above. You should also see if the schools waive the SAT score for students who havea certain number of credits ( I think Georgetown or George WAS. and reed. Since you are a junior, I am hoping that they will look more at your Collenge GPA because it already show that you can excell in college. Good luck. Can you also find some schools that have “Optional SAT”? If you are a woman, check mount Holyoke.

It all depends on the school you are looking for and your overall performance in other aspects of admission. If you are strong in other aspects, low SAT does not affect that much. The better school, the higher SAT you are supposed to submit in order to make you not less competitive than other strong applicants.
