Retake the "regular" SAT ?

Hey there !

I am an international student planning on applying to the University of Chicago for the Fall 2015.
I have taken the SAT twice, my highest score was 1990. (Reading : 690; Math : 680; Writing :620). I am going to take the SAT Subject Test in French and Math 2 in one month.
Should I retake the regular SAT again and apply regular decision ? (instead of leave it the way it is and apply early)
Even though my worst part of the SAT, the Writing, is not considered UChicago I am so worried that the admissions office will not even consider my application due to the tests scores ....
I am a highly engaged student, socially (tutor for a refugee, chief editor of schools newspaper), educationally (straight As) and athletically (Baskteball) and even spent one year as an exchange student in the US... Can all this make up for my SAT score which is below average ?

Thank You so much for Your help :)

International admissions are incredibly competitive, and it’s likely that other candidates will submit 2100+ scores. I would definitely retake the exam if possible.

Keep in mind that international transcripts are not very consistent with the US grading system, so there is a greater emphasis placed on standardized test scores. Good luck!

You should retake sat to improve odds but do it after heavy prep first. Perhaps go to a prep school/tutor?

Alternatively try act, some times one does better in act over sat.
