I got something between 210 and 263 on the TOEFL and I think that's not good enough. It is really easy, but I did not concentrate. Should I retake the TOEFL in december? I sent the scores of this exam to MIT, which scores will they consider if I take the TOEFL in december? (do they consider the best one?).
I am so sad at the moment, I did not even bother preparing for TOEFL. I mean, it was so easy, but I messed up the Listening Section.
What would you say?

If you think you got below a 233, you should certainly retake, as 233 on the computer-based test is the established minimum for admissions, according to Matt's blog. He suggests that students aim for about a 250 to be competitive.

MIT will consider the scores that present you in the best light.

I guess I will have something above 250. Will that be ok?
The problem is: I don't know my final score. It could be below 250, which would be really bad. I get the results in 2-3 weeks, they said. Maybe I should retake the exam, but I don't know...actually, how did you get to know your scores? by mail?
ok, so would, say, 260 be good for MIT?

I'm not really familiar with the TOEFL, but I assume that if Matt says 250 is a competitive score, then anything above 250 is super. :)

Bryan Nance's rule #39 for MIT admissions:
NEVER question MATT McGANN. He is of the MIT Omnibus.

Hehe, good answer.
But I think that 250 is not that special. Everybody has 250+...well, anyway. TOEFL is such a crap...

wait a sec, didn't u get ur essay? Then it becomes a specific number. DOesn't it?

hm, .what do you mean? the toefl essay? I don't have the results, yet...

TOEFL in general is just 250 or higher. It's to see if u can read, write, listen to basic english. 250 is like the cutoff and u don't need a score higher than it.
