Retake? What would you do?

I took the ACT at my school without studying for the first time and received a 32. Should I study and retake it or is a 32 good enough? If so what study programs are best? Or is self-guided study better?

With a 32 or even say a 34 upon retaking the test and a 3.5 GPA what type of college should I shoot for? Do colleges consider jobs extracurricular activities?

Where do you want to go to school? A 32 is good for almost any school.

You shouldn’t base what college you go to on what your test scores and GPA are. Granted, it’s a major factor in deciding which scools are viable or not. Regardless, look at a school based on what you want to get out of a college experience, then look at their scores and see if it’s reasonable. A 32 is fine for pretty much anywhere except top top tier schools, and even there it’s reasonable.

What did you get on each section? If you got a 32 on each section I would say not to retake it, but if your scores were spread out then I would. The first time i took it I got a 31 (32E/36M/31R/25S), but I retook it 2 months later and improved my science section to raise my score to a 35 (35E/36M/32R/35S). Take it again if you think you can do better!

35- English
32-Math
36- Reading
25-Science -(didn’t finish)

I just didn’t know if the difference between a 32 and any higher score was substantial in colleges eyes. It’s all 99th percentile right…

If you can get a 32 without studying, you could get 34+ with studying.

I’d take it again.

Yeah, I would take it again just because there’s usually a one or two point difference between science and reading scores. After a few science practice tests, you’ll realize how easy it really is. With a 36 on reading, you’re fully capable of getting a 33+ on science.
